Project

VMware Cloud Director is a premier cloud management platform that enables service providers to deliver secure, multi-tenant public and private cloud infrastructure. It offers a comprehensive suite of tools for managing virtual data centers, including automation, orchestration, and self-service provisioning capabilities. As one of VMware's leading revenue-generating products, VMware Cloud Director plays a crucial role in the company's portfolio.

In 2019, VMware acquired Avi Networks, a company specializing in Advanced Load Balancer (ALB) solutions. The ALB product enhances the performance, availability, and security of applications deployed across various cloud environments. The task in hand was now to integrate ALB capabilities into VMware Cloud Director, creating a unified management interface. This integration enables service providers to manage their load balancers directly from the VMware Cloud Director interface, streamlining operations and enhancing efficiency.

The integration of ALB into VMware Cloud Director was projected to substantially boost the product's revenue, potentially generating multi-million dollar increases. By offering a single-pane-of-glass management experience, service providers can leverage the full spectrum of VMware Cloud Director's capabilities while efficiently managing their load balancing needs.
